About Community Cats & What We Do
-
I have a lot of feral cats on my property, can you help me?
Yes, Whiskers-n-Paws may be able to help you; however, your case may have a wait time. Complete the Request for Assistance form to get started with your case. Note - We do NOT intake cats into our organization, and we do NOT relocate cats. We only do Trap-Neuter-RETURN of cats.
Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) is considered the gold standard for dealing with stray/feral cats as it allows healthy cats to live out their lives in their community. Animal control officers have some very serious issues to deal with in the county and community cat situations can be resolved humanely with education of neighbors and coaching of homeowners / feeders.
Don't call Animal Services. If the Newnan City Animal Control Warden and/or County Animal Services gets involved in the case, the feral cats are taken to the shelter and could be euthanized at taxpayer expense. Sadly, a number of the cats that are classified as “feral” are likely someone’s lost or abandoned pet and are simply just scared, displaying the same behaviors as a feral cat (hissing, swatting, dilated pupils, hiding, etc.).
